Getting a like-for-like comparison
When you open each site, check that you’re looking at the same hotel, room type and board (room only, breakfast included and so on), and compare the final total including taxes and fees. Then look at the cancellation terms: a refundable rate that costs a little more can be the better deal if your plans might change.
Some sites (trivago and lastminute.com) open on their own search page, where you just type your destination again.
Tips that often save money
- Log in to booking sites where you have an account: several show cheaper member prices.
- Try shifting your dates by a day. Prices can change a lot around weekends and big events.
- Check the hotel’s own website for direct-booking perks.
- Watch out for extras such as parking, resort or city fees, and breakfast.
